Chamber/Solo Music EP Project (2024 – 2025)
Snapshots EP Overview
Snapshots EP features 4 works composed by Anusha Yellapragada and performed by Ellipsis Trio, WHACKollective ft Grace James, Noctis Trio, and Thong Truong. These pieces invite listeners to reflect on various mundane moments from enjoying innocent privileges during the summer school break as a child, to more recently springing back into post-lockdown life. I hope that this music can highlight simple pleasures, and encourage listeners to recall nostalgic, fond memories.

About EP Works
SPRING (the metal kind hahaha)
Composed around the conclusion of the COVID-19 pandemic, ‘Spring’ is a piece about bounding into the rhythm of post-lockdown life. Reflecting on her own experience, Yellapragada comments that “like jumping on a spring, it felt as though I had been vaulted into the exciting yet overwhelming post-lockdown life, attempting to pick myself up with the help of those around me”. We hope that this work can guide you to remember moments where you were able to take that next step forward, even when things seemed to fall apart, and give you hope to continue to do so in the future.
SPROUT
Sprout was created through reflection of fond childhood memories of working in the garden with my family, but also as an appreciation for the amazing gardens present in Australia and as an extension of that, the abundant natural landscape that we have access to. The piece begins by exploring a soundscape reminiscent of working in the garden with sweeping foley sounds, sifting pebbles, and the sound of shoveled soil as a seedling is planted. Following rain droplet-like trickles of glock and vibraphone, the piece subsequently invites the listener on a musical trail of growth. With the last couple of notes, a little seedling is sonically painted sprouting up from the soil.
SUMMER MISCHIEF
Summer Mischief is a reflection on fond, childhood memories of the summer holidays. The 1st movement, “Yay! Summer Holidays!” begins with a high-energy flurry of notes, carrying the excitement of starting the summer break. This leads to the introduction of the quirky main theme that captures the more static nature of being stuck at home. The 2nd movement, “It’s Too Hot!” presents a swung, and texturally sparse version of the main theme evoking the lethargy that comes with the summer heat. Lastly, “AHH SPIDER!”, concludes the work with a sense of adventure and adversity, using fast chromatic figures to introduce the antagonist of the story, a scuttling black spider.
AZURE DREAM
Written by Thong Truong.
A contemplation on the idea of a “blue sky dream,” Azure Dream reflects the emotional journey of daring to dream big. Anusha Yellapragada captures a spectrum of feelings—from childlike wonder and excitement to moments of doubt and fear—ultimately encouraging the listener to face new challenges with optimism, compassion, and resilience. The piece opens with sweeping arpeggios across the piano’s full range, evoking ocean waves, followed by a solemn middle section, and concludes with a sense of hope and resolution.
